Kent Boasts UK's First Solar Secured School

St Alphege Infants, in Whitstable, Kent, have combined the need to better protect their pupils and their green ethos with an innovative Solar-Powered security system.

The entrance automatically opens for 20 minutes in the morning and afternoon as parents arrive, saving the school’s caretaker time from his busy schedule.

During the teaching day, a wireless intercom system allows the nursery staff to activate the gate if required and a Sure-Bolt electric lock keeps it secured at all other times.

Powered entirely by Solar Energy, the new security system and automated gate is the first of its kind in an education setting anywhere in the United Kingdom.

The environmentally friendly gate automation kits fit to existing gates without mains power - no electrician, no trenches, no fuss, no danger to pupils and no impact on the environment.
