Over the past six years, Solar and Electric Gates has developed and manufactured a unique range of vehicle access systems using solar energy technology providing not just convenience but “ECO” friendly solution which incorporates a full range of products for gate and barrier automation from ornate swing gates through to heavy industrial sliding gates and traffic barriers,  all powered by the sun!  

Some companies have tried utilising wind energy to provide a small trickle charge to batteries but trials have shown that small wind generators only provide a fairly insignificant amount of energy when compared to  solar panels and are therefore not a viable alternative.  All wind generators need to operate in "clean air" which means they must be mounted at least 10 metres distance from any obstacles such as trees or buildings  in order to work effectively, even when mounted mounted on exposed sites.

Having concluded the trial work for wind verses solar, all our new range of gate automation kits are powered by calculating the correct amount of charge required for solar power to operate each system for at least 10 days without any sunshine.  This has proven to be very effective over the years and has enable hundreds of satisfied customers to install automatic gates in romote areas.
